Pupil Days
The Centre offers a range of learning days delivered by our qualified teaching staff. Groups of up to 15 pupils can enjoy a day at PAFC from as little as £12 per head.
Whilst we do have a number of ready made sessions, we pride ourselves in designing bespoke days for school groups. Schools are invited to provide us with their aims, learning objectives or a focus for their group and we will design a programme using the stadium, the football club or sport as our theme. We evaluate and provide feedback reports following our pupil days. Our expertise includes Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, post 16 and work related learning projects.
Numeracy and Literacy Days
We offer a range of games and activities designed to boost numeracy and literacy skills as well as increasing pupils' confidence. When possible we use the stadium as an extra-large resource and football facts and statistics as the basis for data handling, reading and writing tasks.
Boys' Literacy Booster
The two main strengths of the centre are combined to create an attractive approach to literacy for the most reluctant of our young male non-readers and writers. This course includes visual literacy tasks based on film making, web creation or pod-casting to motivate boys to write and communicate in increasing levels of detail. We also use match report writing to generate both factual and imaginative writing. It's surprizing what emotive language can be generated by a quick run from the players' dressing room, through the tunnel and into the stadium!
Team Building and Problem Solving
There is nothing quite like being at a professional sports club to focus the mind on teamwork and co-operation. Our team building days consist of tasks, challenges and games which foster a group ethos and reward those who can co-operate and communicate. They could be valuable for groups of pupils who are not working well together in school, new class groups or induction days.
Raising Confidence, Aspirations and Self Esteem
The activities that we have designed to develop these areas of personal and emotional growth, through our PfS programme, are combined in a day’s activities and culminate in a celebration ending where pupils summarize their own strengths and qualities. Using design software they are able to experience what it’s like to be a comtemporary or historic ‘winner’ and explore their own ambitions and achievements.
What about just having a ‘Fun Day’ or ‘Reward Day’
Sometimes schools are just looking for a way to reward their hard-working pupils or offer incentives for good efforts or to support merit systems. We can offer games and activites which combine relaxation and learning - we can also spice up the element of competition with Argyle
Prizes and Rewards!
Schools wanting to cater for larger groups could combine a half day of literacy with some coaching and five-a-side football, or try out some of our fun IT applications.
